Snake Venom Proteins Isolated from Tunisian Vipers: Pharmacological and Therapeutic Overview

نویسندگان

چکیده

: The venoms of Tunisian wildlife snakes are complex mixtures containing proteins/ peptides and non-protein molecules. Proteins the most abundant compounds responsible for biological effects venoms. Snake proteins have enzymatic or nonenzymatic activities, which grouped into different families, including C-type lectin proteins, disintegrins (long, medium short disintegrins), Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitors, natriuretic- like peptides, vascular endothelial growth factor-related L-amino acid oxidases, phospholipases A2 proteinases. With technological advancements, toxic were turned potential benefits clinical diagnosis, basic research development new tools drugs use. Our team has shown that Macrovipera lebetina Cerastes cerastes venom components had great treatment cancer, angiogenesis disorders cardiovascular diseases. This review is an overview snake from their biochemical, pharmacological molecular characterization importance as protein resources with therapeutic potential.

Two Proteins from Snake Venom have Potent Antibacterial Effects against Bacillus anthracis and Streptococcus pneumoniae

Background: Antibacterial proteins are widely expressed in snake venoms. Previously, we have isolated two immunodominant proteins with molecular weights of 14 and 65kD from the snake venom of Naja naja oxiana (N. oxiana). It was demonstrated that they had potent inhibitory effects against gram-positive bacteria, S. aureus and B. subtilis but were less effective against gram-negative bacteria, s...

Preliminary pharmacological study of purified snake enzymatic cream isolated from Agkistrodon Halys venom.

To investigate the pharmacological and toxicological actions of purified snake enzymatic cream (PSE) isolated from Agkistrodon Halys Venom, erythematous dermatitis was induced by applying dinitrofluorobenezene (DNFB) on the back skin of guinea pigs. Consequent local alterations at different doses of PSE were observed and compared using negative control methods. In skin irritation and acute toxi...
